and no it wasn't because of the Royal Wedding..and it wasn't me that was up at 2am...
My sister told me that her 4 year old woke up and went into their room and said to his mom, "Mom, we need to talk."
So then they went back to his bed and he talked about how his older brother said there are aliens in space and how little Wy knows that is true...just stuff like that. Finally he fell asleep and my sister could go back to bed.
My sister was glad that the serious talk was over for the night.
We had a fun activity last night for combined YW/YM…we called it "Flight Night to the Celestial Kingdom". We pretended to be on an airplane (equal rows of chairs across with an aisle in between).
Our activity went well last night. The girl class presidents had to show the exits of the plane and how to place the oxygen mask on one's face. It was great. My friend Lisa Anderson used to be a flight attendant for Delta and she dressed in her uniform and stood in the back of the room and using her microphone made it sound just like you were on a plane…just how the attendants talk over the microphone--kind of echoey. She also put up airplane window-shaped laminated photos with clouds on them so it looked like you could be looking out the windows. She talked about being safe on a plane and obeying the rules just like we need to obey the commandments and follow the safety rules that our prophet asks us. We used the video (an old church video about an indian boy who is talking to a snake and the snake wants him to carry him down the mountain. The boy doesn't want to but finally agrees because the snake says it won't harm the boy. The boy lets the snake down on the ground and the snake bites him. The boy asks why and the snake says that he is a snake…anyway just a reminder to the youth that you need to steer clear of some not so smart choices in life) that we showed to be the free in-flight video. During the video/movie, the class presidents served pretzels and water and rolled the cart, from the kitchen, up and down the aisle. Then they had the activity in the cultural hall where half the kids were blindfolded and walked through a course and were led by the holy ghost's voice, which were the unblindfolded kids, and then there was a loud voice (one of our boys) who was being the evil influence voice trying to shout at them and lead them astray…and then they came back in to the RS room again where our plane was set up and our 2nd counselor in the bishopric talked about how on some flights you have turbulance just like in life and how we need the safety of the gospel. Then the kids all had strawberry shortcake served to them. (Heavenly dessert...get it?) Everyone said it all went great. I was glad. And I didn't have to do much which was extra nice.
Another activity accomplished. Always a good feeling.
I heard that on the radio...so, now it has to be nice weather, right?
(I hear it is supposed to snow again tomorrow...sigh!)
Had some fun visits with some friends and some family last night. One friend that I hadn't seen for 10 years! And a fun activity with the YW and YM of our ward.
Hah- I just saw a canadian goose fly by my work window. Since I was raised in Canada, I think of that and then think of Jase. I always wonder if he has some connection with them to remind me of him and dad. Because that is who I ultimately think of.
Just found out yesterday that a sweet older friend from my temple shift suddenly passed away the other day. I talk with him a lot at the temple. And I had planned to discuss something with him last week but got busy but I for sure planned to tell him tonight. We had a connection because we both lost a brother two years ago. Just a sweet man. (His twin-looking brother also used to be on my temple shift and he passed away two years ago.) I will miss them both dearly. Goodbye, Bro. Madsen. You will be missed. Thanks for being a sweet friend to me.
...a little 3 lb miniature pomeranian named Lola Bella that because of her I couldn't get as much work done, that I brought home from work to do tonight?
Well, it is kind of hard to draw when your lap has been taken over by a little pup who is fast asleep. But only fast asleep after terrorizing my black workout pants and bright pink socks that I was wearing. I think she was plump tuckered out! ; )
Amen is all I can say! A lot of people don't agree with me when it comes to my stand against sugar/corn syrup/fructose...whatever you want to call it. And it is their choice. I just choose what I choose. (Thanks Eden for posting this.) I only share because I care.
An enlightening video. Takes about an hour and a half...
I think I have projects to do coming out of my ears...
For work, for YW, and house stuff. And a couple of family events this weekend too.
But that is okay. I can't say I am bored. No time for that for sure.
I think after this weekend I will be able to breathe...at least that is my hope! ; ) The events can keep happening because I love to be with my family...but some of the projects I have to do at home this weekend..well, I will happily bid them adieu when I have completed them!
Merry Christmas with the snow we have been having for the last 3 days! Not that it is sticking to the roads...but hello! Isn't it supposed to be the warmer part of Spring one of these days? Just checking.... ; )
A co-worker at work just adopted a little baby. Caleb Gregory. We are having a baby shower for the baby and family today at work. So here is Caleb's card that I am giving him...ta da!
Just a side note but important note...this is a hard time of the year for our family. Miss you, Dad, SO MUCH! And miss you, Jase, SO MUCH too! I know you are watching over us. But sometimes it doesn't seem like enough. Our two angels.
So my sister-in-law got a pomeranian puppy. Her name is Lola Bella. She is just teeny. Like 5 inches long. My 4 year old nephew saw her and told us,"Lola Bella has a tiny head." And he then added," And she has a little, tiny brain." And then later he proceeded to tell us that we all had little tiny brains. Haha.
From the back of her she looks like a little kitten. Because of her pointy ears. Such a funny little thing.
We are happy to welcome her into the family. And hopefully won't step on her. ; ) She is teeny and very quiet. Though we have heard her growl a couple of times. A tiny little growl.
And the weather today is magnificant!!!! Perfect...sunny...and warm! Love it!
