A Quick Comment

Can I just say that I am amazed at the heart and caring of some people out there?

In my mom's neighborhood, there is a very humble and goodhearted family. The Connlees. Just a very sweet couple.

A chainlink fence needs to be removed from the backyard of my mom's sometime. And the wife and husband are out there working on it. Just good hardworking sweet people.

It just makes my heart feel good that there are people out there like that who just care about their neighbors.

Just had to post that. I know these people will receive many blessings. If not in this lifetime, but for sure in the eternities. They are such an example to me of true goodness in the world. He also is the 2nd counselor in our temple presidency at Mt Timp.

Thurrrrrsday...all day!

Happy Thursday! Just a little international flavor to add to your day...
Again, nothing much going on with me. Which is a good thing. Just catching up on projects and working away on stamp sets at work. I am going to get an estimate on replacing some of my windows in my home though. The seal has broken on a couple of windows and it is quite irritating to try to look through those windows and not be able to see through them. So that is my excitement lately.

Happy Thursday! Yay for long weekends! And I need to add that it is wonderful talking with my sisters and my mom and my brothers. Just grateful for them all.

Wednesday is here. Hurroo! Hurray!

Yes, no particular reason for the excitement of a Wednesday. Or even this particular Wednesday. Just thought I would start out the day on a positive note.
Hap - pea Wednesday! Supposed to be a great day weather-wise. Woot woot!

Just an added note to say how grateful I am for my family and friends. In fact, one of my best friends that I grew up with for a few years in North Van, has now emailed me 3 times in the last week or so. I love getting back in better contact with her. Funny- her name is Sherrie and I have another friend that I hang out with here that is named Sherry. Good Sherr-ie/y friends.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday! Just rockin' along!
It's a good day. A day of many possibilities. No snow today! Woohoo!

A nice weekend...and a rainy monday

I truly think it is raining cats and dogs! And a few snowmen! Oh and yes, there was snow falling on the freeway too. And it's almost the end of May! Craziest weather ever!
I know that Spring can be back and forth with rain and then sunshine but it seems we are getting much more rain than sunshine these days. Let alone snow!

Happy Monday! What a good weekend. So busy with family stuff and especially the best event getting my brother Jason's temple work completed on Saturday. What an amazing day. Without going into details, I will just say that amazing things happened while we were there. The spirit was so strong and I know that Jason was there with us. I am so grateful for temples, for the gospel, for the knowledge we have that Jason can progress even further now that his work is done. That he can reach his full potential that we always knew he had in himself. What a great day. Nearly everyone, that was able to attend the temple in our family, was there. What a great session. We got right in and it all went perfectly. We couldn't have asked for a better situation.

Love you, Jase.

An exciting day today

Jason, we know you are excited too. We know there is and will be much rejoicing going on this afternoon. Love you so much! Miss you so much.

It's Friday...and I wish I was still sleeping!

Wow- really long day yesterday. Probably felt longer because I was hacking up a lung last night. Doesn't that always happen when you are almost over a cold but need to not cough in a very quiet and reverent place? That was me at the temple last night. I think I was making myself sick with all the cough drops I was consuming. But it is all good. And I am so grateful I was there last night. It really gives me a foundation for my week. FYI, of course once I was home, I coughed a couple of times but no big deal. Isn't that always the way?

I managed to get out of bed and get to work this morning though 5 hours of sleep really does not do it for me. Thoughts of an afternoon nap when I am off work today really sound good...or a possible morning nap under my desk (Okay, I won't do the nap under the desk.)! It's felt like a long week. And I am working on a stamp set today that is not falling into place like I would like it to. I hope to change that today as I work.

I think we all have days/weeks/months like this at times. Ah, blessed sleep! How I long for you! ; )

Even though I still have this silly cough (and I really am grateful that it isn't a sore throat cold and a really not that bad kind of cold...other than the embarrassing coughing fits when I need to not cough...), overall I am doing so great! It's Friday. Right now the sun is shining. I have a good job, and I can handle a lack of sleep for now. Because it is FRIDAY and I can sleep in tomorrow and Sunday. And tomorrow we do my brother's temple work! That is the most exciting thing ever!

Cool vase from NYC!

Courtesy of Paula and Kathy. Love it!!!! Thanks, guys.

It's Thursday and the weekend is closer!

So it's Thursday! Yay. A good day. I get to go work at the temple this afternoon. People from work will be back from New York. They went for a national card show. The sun is shining. My cold is slowly going away! At least this morning I woke up and I wasn't coughing much at all. I got to do 5 miles at the track yesterday. I have a family who loves me and cares about me. And we get to go do my brother's temple work on Saturday! Finally. I hope it all works out. We have waited about a month and a half till everyone's schedules could sync a little better. But we want as many of us to be there as possible and we know that Jase doesn't mind the wait.

It is a good day.

Now I just wish I had time to go read a book for fun...I need to work on that.
Happy Thursday!

Is Spring finally coming?

Hello, Wednesday. Can my cold be done now? Yes, I have the joy of having a little cold. It really is not a bad one. No sore throat but it is the kind that late at night and first thing in the morning I really notice it. And I am so not amused. During the day I am fine. Ah well. I hope it goes away soon. I am glad it is not worse. Though I hear that weather doesn't really affect a person from having a cold, I can't help but think that our crazy Spring this year is not helping. Warm one day and then rain and snow the next. My system is all confused.

Here is a little Spring sketch of a mom and baby. Of how Spring is supposed to finally turn out.
Happy Wednesday! I hear it is supposed to be warmer today. Now that would be nice. I think.

Too busy of a day

Crazy afternoon. Went to get my car checked after its fun on the road yesterday. It is fine. Phew. Next I am off to the track...but black clouds cut my work out short. Then off to the beloved Costco for some much needed groceries. And gas for the car. And then I decided to run over to the Costco tire center bay to get my air pressure on the tires checked...and alas, a nail was living in my tire. Rude. So I then proceed to wander the aisles of Costco for 2 hours waiting in line for 5 cars ahead of me. I have now taken new inventory on what Costco has to offer. Then I went to get my car at the counter and gratefully since the tires are quite new, I only had to pay the difference on the tire for the use I had put into it. Truly the tires are only a few months old. And then off to Cafe Rio to grab a salad since I was starving.

The end of a crazy couple of days. And now I hear the rain pouring down out there. Good. My lawn needs it and my flowers.

Good night.

Klonk & Tuesday

Oh joy...I am driving down good ol' I-15 going home yesterday and I am behind a semi. Don't like being near them to be honest anyway. So...all of a sudden a flippy long bendy piece of something comes flying out from under the semi. Of course I have no time to react...And the flippy METAL piece of something goes under my car and klonks it! EEK! Then it flies out past me too and proceeds to reek havoc on other unsuspecting motorists I would assume! Anyway I got into the slow lane and kept watching for a trail of fluid or something from my car. But gratefully there was nothing and my car also continued and continues to run smoothly. Goodness! Can't those semi trucks keep their pieces of metal to themselves I ask you? Scary! When I got home I looked under the car on all sides and it seems to all be in one piece and again when I left for work this morning it seems to be okay. I hope my car is not a magnet for any other forms of flipping metal on the freeway!

So sometimes I wish I could be a person that could wear really tall pointy shoes. Or at least act like I am a person that could pull that off. Ah well. I only go up to 3 inch tall heels and certainly not a pointy toe or very narrow heel. Just not natural for me. But sometimes I wonder how I would be if I could pull off shoes like that. Maybe it is a good thing I can't. I really have no time to be lounging by a pool and flipping through fashion magazines anyway. And it seems like if one wears shoes like that, that they do spend a lot of time lounging and flipping...but in reality they probably don't. (Hmmm, I do encounter "flipping"...that is with long strips of metal that semi trucks spew out from their underneaths!)

Ah well. I can look at the pretty shoes at least. And then get back to my normal and totally great life. And really hope I am not a "flipper"...especially when it comes to stray long pieces of metal on the freeway!

Happy Tuesday! It's a rainy one for us.

And happy birthday to my cute dad today. I love you and miss you. (Jase, hug Dad for us.)

It's Monday..and I am tired today

Hello, goose! It's Monday. And I'm tired. I woke up with a bit of a sore throat. I feel better now though. But I am still tired.
Just a lot going on this weekend. Hardly had time to rest. It's my fault for having a lot of freelance going on lately but I am so grateful for it too.

Happy Monday all!

Happy Friday...it's a good day!

Congrats to Che' and Jared. We love little Finley Robert! Happy 3 weeks old!
The temple was great last night. Love it there. Oh, and I saw Julie and Devin last night at the temple. So fun! Julie, your hair is even cuter in person. Sorry I couldn't visit at the time I saw you. And Devin, I was walking out as I saw you. Good to see you guys. I love seeing people I know at the temple. It's the best! (Thanks to Cameron for making sure I saw you guys...but I already had. Hah!)
Here is a sketch of my friend Jennifer's son Bonden. What a cutie. I am off to meet Jennifer and Beth for lunch today. Fun day!

Happy Friday! I have the day off!

And I am excited for my friend Sherrie and her husband Alan who have just been called to be temple workers in the Vancouver Temple! So exciting for them. And my mom's friend Joyce will also work there. It will be a great blessing in their lives for sure. I know that I am blessed with my service at Mt Timp.

Yay for 8...and everything is great!

Cute little baby drawing. Ah!
It is a good Thursday. The weather is perking up and it is getting nicer and nicer outside now. The warm Spring is finally here...I think. Happy day!

My nephew Marcus turned 8 yesterday. Ta da. He is SO excited to get baptized. He has been waiting 2 years...ever since his sisters got baptized. He is a sweet, smart kid. We are so glad that Marcus and his sisters are in our family.

Happy Wednesday!

Yes, it's Wednesday! I got to the track, I got to the store, and I went to a Relief Society meeting all last night after work. The RS meeting was on marketing and how the church markets itself. Not only to spread the gospel but also how it has to because it is bashed so much on the internet. And outside the internet. I just figure the world will always bash our church because they don't understand it and what it stands for, but you know what? That's fine. I know what I believe and that is all that matters to me. And the church will continue to grow. And it is. That comforts me.

And no, I didn't get to my freelance! Drat! But that's okay. I will work on it tonight. Evenings are my time to do freelance. And weekends.

Have a happy fishy Wednesday!
P.S. I am so excited that the Vancouver, B.C. temple is now dedicated. I need to get there soon. I always wanted a Vancouver temple when I was growing up there. And now my childhood dream has happened! Just so great too for the people in that area. I am grateful that we have these sacred buildings on the earth.

Well, hello Tuesday!

It's Tuesday. A dog and cat are getting along. All is right with the world.
; )
It is a good day. Lots to accomplish. Lots to be thankful for. Everyday.

Happy Tuesday!

Yay the lawnmower works at Mom's!

Stef fixed it. What a woman! So exciting to finally get the lawns mowed there. makes a huge difference. Stef's 11 year old daughter (my brother's baby) mowed most of the back lawn. What a great job she did!

Makes me happy when the grass is mowed!

Thumbs Up!

Wy you are such a cute little guy! Can't believe he will be 4 the end of June! What a sweet boy. Happy Monday! It is an Eeyore rainy day. Good for the lawns and flowers though. So it is all good.

And Sunday was nice. And we had a nice celebration of our Mother. We just had a nice restful evening. Got to visit a lot and just enjoy each other's company. We did miss the family members who couldn't make it though. The food was wonderful too. Yum. We had wraps with all sorts of yummy ingredients to stuff into it.

A nice weekend.

Cute Headbands

So I went to the Beehive Bazaar at Thanksgiving Point on Friday. I picked up these adorable headbands that are made out of vinyl. I got two for $10 so I figured it would be perfect to give them to the twins. Look how cute they look!
Sweet little girls. (I wish I had thought about picking up two more for their cousins Jenna and Kiley!)

Happy Sunday! And happy Mother's Day to all girls and women everywhere.

Blue Shadow

And here's Anna's brother. This is Alex.Fun day today...but tiring. Got up super early... and went and painted, with my sister Karen, at my sister Deb's new house. We painted the master bedroom a pale butternut color. It used to be dark red (Ewww!) The new paint color opened up the room so much. It looks amazing. But after I was so tired. Came home and slept for a couple of hours. And now working on freelance.

I feel badly though because I missed my sweet nephew Nick's Eagle Scout celebration this afternoon. Way to go, Nick! He is only 15 and already got his Eagle! He is a great kid. Very accomplished and motivated. I am so proud of him. At least we will see everyone on Sunday to celebrate Mother's Day for my mom.

Pink Shadow

Here is a silhouette I did of my friend's daughter. Ah, cute.

Happy Friday!!!

Yay, it's Friday! That about sums it up as to how I feel! So glad it is Friday! Just nice to have the weekend to look forward to. I need to finish up a freelance project (hopefully tonight) and get finishing up a bigger one but in the last week or so I did two quick freelance jobs too. Yay. It is a good feeling to get projects accomplished.
I had a wonderful time serving at the temple last night. Just a great experience each week. I grow a little bit each time I am there. When I really take the time to realize how blessed I am to work there I am overwhelmed and reminded about the important work that is done there and the humble fact that I am allowed to help with it.

Happy Friday! I plan on it being a fantastic day. I hope you do too. And happy weekend too!

It's going to be a bear-utiful day.

Haha- Bear-utiful day? Now that is a stretch on the pun stuff. Anyway, I think it will be a great day today.
Happy Thursday! All day. I better get ready for work. Slacker Lori.

Late Frog

Yah so I meant to post this little frog on my blog this morning when I got to work...but my work is blocking our blogs now. Oh fine! So I just got home so here is my contribution for today.
I just got back from a free concert at the Scera Shell. It was the United States Coast Guard Band. They did a great job. They travel all over the states. A nice little concert in Spring.

Now I must work on some freelance. And hopefully get to bed at a decent hour tonight.

Alien Tuesday

Some days do you feel like an alien? Sometimes maybe you don't feel like you fit in? I am not trying to tell anyone that I feel that way. I am truly fine and well-adjusted. And very grateful for all that I have. I just think sometimes that we get into situations where we might feel a little awkward or out of place. Now that happens to me at times for sure. But that is life. And we all want to feel accepted. Maybe a little lack of self-worth I would think. Anyway...I got onto this topic because I posted an alien...as you can see. I think he is a cute little guy. I doubt he has a problem with self-worth.
Happy Tuesday. Big gray cloud hanging in the sky this morning. I hope it blows away. It should because it was windy enough coming into work today for sure.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Look, I see a pink elephant...

Happy Monday! Nothing really new to report other than my dome light in my car works now! I took it in on Friday. Happy car! Happy me! It was a cosmetic fix but I want my car running the best it can. Got the 60,000 check on it too. Yay, happy car! Still need to take it in to get a bulb replaced when they get the bulb in. I sometimes wonder if a horse and carriage would be more appreciated then all the car stuff you have to take care of...but cars go faster and you don't have to follow after it and clean up after it...a big plus! ; )

We are still waiting to do Jason's work. That is okay. We want as many family members to come as possible. Schedules are a little crazy since we are all busy...but I know it will work out when it is supposed to. And I know Jase doesn't mind. Love you, Bumper.

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Ah, sweet!

So I was going through old emails on my home account and I found one from 5 years ago. My nephew Ben, who is now 8, had been playing with me one day. My sister was taking him home later and he said to his mom, "Mom, Lori is my best friend."

I just thought that was so sweet. Of course he has long forgotten even saying that to me but it means a lot to me. And it touched my heart to read that again. He is a sweet boy and I am very proud of him. He tries to be a good big brother to Ander and Wy. And is very patient with Wy.

Sweet boys for sure.
