Happy Tuesday even though Peru cancelled

So our YW/YM activity is tomorrow night...and Peru just cancelled. The presenter has a class assignment tomorrow night he didn't know about. SIGH. Kind of hard when a country cancels on you at the last minute. Oh well. We will survive. We have 5 other places for the kids to learn about at least. No more cancellations allowed. Please.

I had a lazy night last night. Should have worked on some things...but it doesn't hurt to have a night off once in a while after my crazy schedule the last two months.

Happy Monday & Fun Activity Wednesday...

Grateful for many things...including NO SNOW on the freeway this morning. Thank you!!!!

Good weekend... got the book SO close to being done. Just a few tweaks after work I hope. 2nd- I survived teaching the lesson in YW on Chastity. EEK! Just a little hard but you have to be straightforward. Luckily my counselors and the bishop were there too. Phew. I wish I could be confident on my feet in front of people. In other words, just being able to think clearly as I present. Ah well. Maybe it is a learning process... So much to learn in this life! (sigh!)

So this coming Wednesday we are doing an International/Culture Night. (One of the YM counselors is from Hawaii so we couldn't do it strictly International but wanted to include Hawaii... who wouldn't? That is where I want to be right now as Winter starts to rear it's ugly head...)

So these are the main pieces for it. I "borrowed" the logo for an actual passport. My counselors will wear the customs badges. I can't as I am presenting Canada.

As the kids go to each country, they get a sticker in their passport book...

The questions... (We asked each country/culture rep to come up with an answer to a question but not to spotlight that info in their presentation...hmmm, not sure how that will go but hopefully the kids will listen well.). The one for Hawaii is insane...The State fish of Hawaii is the humuhumunukunukuapua'a pronounced: hoo-moo-hoo-moo-noo-koo-noo-koo-auhp-oo-ah-ah! Yah, just try to say that 10 times fast!
And this blurry photo is the sticker that will go on the back of the books that my "border patrol" counselors will place on the books once the kids answer the questions.
I hope the activity goes okay. We will see. Next is to figure out YW in Excellence. Truly I have no idea what to do with that. I hope me and my counselors come up with good ideas this Tuesday night at our planning meeting... We have less than a month!

So close to finishing up stuff for my lesson Sunday, the book I have been working on for 2 months straight, and the YW/YM activity for Wednesday night!!! Can you believe it? I can't. Now to go review the lesson a bunch to get it all down.

P.S. Sometimes, I have decided, it is weird watching the world go by. Watching as people hit milestones/accomplish things in their lives that I am not even close to accomplishing and wonder if I ever will. I kind of feel left out sometimes. Oh well. I guess we all feel that at times.

"I feel upside down" Wednesday

Something is wrong with that...if I am more tired when I wake up. Can I hire an assistant? Right now with a mega freelance job, my mega church assignment (It feels like it just because there is a lot to remember and coordinate.), work, and family--my mind is going a million different directions. I wish I could accomplish some of the things while I am sleeping! Nothing to show for it when I get up in the morning other than I am still tired. And my working out is being effected too. Not too consistent. Not good. Maybe I am tired when I wake up because I have dreams about accomplishing some of my tasks...and if that is the case, I wish I could remember what those tasks are that I have apparently completed at night. Because then I could take them off my to-do list! : )

Ah well. I will survive. I can never say I am bored and that is nice. Though a little boredom/downtime could be a nice thing... Bye for now, I think I will just lay my head down at my desk for a few minutes...

Almost made $50 bucks Tuesday

Driving to work in the dark, you have to be extra careful...flying shovels, items in general out on the road...but you also have to watch out for early morning runner people...Yep, I almost made $50 bucks...the light had turned yellow and I was already starting to go through so I quickly zipped through the light and was making a left turn and there was a runner guy just barely crossing the road. No way would he get across before it was a VERY red light but needless to say I had to stop for him of course...and for the record, was glad to stop. Hey guy, put some reflectors on your clothes or arms or something. Just a tip there for him. And another tip, probably not a good idea to cross the road when the light will be red in about 3 seconds. He may be a fast runner but not that fast.

(The $50 bucks idea was something that as kids we came up with saying that we could make an easy $50 by running someone over on our bikes...not that we ever really wanted to nor that we did. But that was the idea... Silly kids that we were and still are!)

And no, the purple in the little quick sketch is not a reflector purple color...

Weekend Projects not complete...but Happy Monday!

I got a lot accomplished this last weekend...but didn't finish anything really. Okay, I did finish one project. Yay for me! I have the week ahead to get more done, right? The book project seems to never end. And it is for sure the most time consuming. Haven't done a project this large in forever. But that's ok. Keeps me from being bored? Above is a part of the cover for the book. I think he is cute. Friday and a sweet memory

A good friend of mine is a good friend of the family who just lost their little girl in a car accident about 2 weeks ago. The little girl's name is Madison. She was only 13. A very hard time for the family to suddenly lose their child. I volunteered to draw Maddie's picture. I know it won't take away the sorrow of their loss but I wanted to do something.

It is a reminder to me to let my loved ones know as much as possible how much I love them. I hope you all remember to do that too.

Happy Friday. Two book covers to work on, two more pages for one of the books to design, and a passport design for a combined activity the end of this month. What an amazing weekend this would be to get all that completed! I can have big dreams, right?

Thoroughly Thursday

People are moving around left and right at work this week. I was asked to stay at my desk. Which is fine with me. But I know things will be different at work (and it makes me sad) because some of my friends and co-workers are moving to other areas. Just a little hard for me since change is not my strong point. Oh well. Nothing I can do but just smile.

In a few weeks we will be used to it I suppose and I know in some ways that it will be a good thing, right?

It's been a long week. Or it feels that way.

Wednesday...ah, cute!

Met with some of the teen girls in the neighborhood last night and it was just cute hearing them talk about how two of them are having a double date with two boys in the neighborhood. And how excited they were. It's just cute.

I hope they have an amazing time on Friday night.
