Conveyor Belt Tuesday

Don't you sometimes get thinking about your place in this world? How you fit in. Where you fit in. If you do fit in. Well, if you don't think you fit in sometimes, like I don't at times, I think we all need to remember that we will all be at different stages and accomplishments in life at different times. That's just how it is. It's not like we can go through a conveyor belt all at once and pass off each accomplishment all together. That is not how life is. And I think I was forgetting that this last week. I was feeling so sorry for myself. Yes, I had a pity party for myself. But I guess we all do at times. And it isn't necessarily being envious of another person...it is more that you wished or hoped that your life was different than it is at that moment...especially if you are being reminded at the time that you are feeling left out.

Just some thoughts for Tuesday. But just in case, don't forget to pay attention to your local news for the next "Conveyor Belt" Day.

Hah to you, snow! and Happy Monday!

So, the drive in to work was really not bad. Everyone took it easy. I-15 was just wet looking, so for fear of black ice, everyone drove about 35 mph. Perfect! The only time I really encountered snow was getting off on the Bangerter exit. Then the roads were snow-packed. I am grateful for cautious drivers, all-wheel drive, and good tires. So, hah to you, snow! Not that I am mocking you for fear that you will dump on me on the way home today or some time later in the winter... ; ) It only took me a little over 40 minutes instead of my normal 30 minutes. I was surprised. And grateful. Yesssssss!

Happy Thanksgiving...yesterday and always.

It reminds me to be thankful every day...whether it is Thanksgiving day or not.

I am thankful for my parents, my siblings, and their families. I am thankful for the gospel in my life. I am thankful for a job and all that I learn. I am thankful to do service in my assignment at church and at the temple too. I need to keep reminding myself that I am where I am because that is how it is supposed to be right now in my life. I really am very thankful but I do feel a little odd at times. Two of my nieces informed me that I am their weird aunt. I think ; ) they said it lovingly but it does remind me that I don't quite fit in or at least I don't feel like I do. But there is a purpose for everyone and every situation we are in.

But I do know this...I am a child of God and that is all that matters. But I could do with being thankful for more in my life...if it ever works out that way.

P.S. I am also very thankful that I didn't freeze at the Turkey Race Thursday morning...but then I did wear 6 layers or shirts and a jacket and mittens and a hat and a scarf. and two layers or sweat pants. Other people froze, but I didn't. Though I know I looked like the kid from "The Christmas Story". Not too easy to run with that many layers on but I kept warm.

Brrrry Monday!

As you can tell, I am not a fan of the cold. I get all tense and have a hard time keeping warm. Brrrr! But, I have been told time and time again that we need the moisture, so buck up, little Lori! Santa has a sleigh not a wagon, so there must be a reason for snow, right? ; )

So, happy cold weather to all!!! But let's try to keep most of the moisture in the mountains, okay? Yah, right. Though I have to say it was interesting this weekend, only a 30 minute drive away had 2 feet of snow and we only got a 1/4 of an inch of snow. Very wild! Plus at one time there was at least a 10 degree difference in temperature between the two places. I was glad for the warmer side. So, if you see me bundled in a parka with my nose barely peeking out...it is me keeping warm.

Happy BRRRRRY Monday! Supposed to get REALLY cold on Wednesday. Get those green puffy parkas out and your scarves!

P.S. I'm going to get so much done today! You just see!

Happy Thursday!

La la Loo loo Wednesday

So, today is the big day for YW in Excellence. Or night. I hope it all goes smoothly. And I wish that I had delegated parts of the program more but I am still learning...

I will post photos of the event tomorrow.

Have a great Wednesday.

UPDATE...okay i just got home. The evening did go well. The girls are so fun and amazing. I am proud of them. I think the whole evening was a success. From the food, to me stumbling along as I spoke to them ; ), to the skits, to the value projects. I think the parents and the girls enjoyed the evening. Phew. And I forgot to take photos! Ah well.

Going Crazy.....or have already arrived!

OK, I HAD to add this image (thanks, Christy for finding it!) on my blog today. Now THIS makes me laugh! It made my day! For anyone with an iphone or an ipod, or an ipad, if you don't have the app Angry Birds, well, I just don't know what to say to you. I love that app and I am not a game person nor do I normally appreciate animals being attacked, but something about these crazy birds (each different bird has a different power) being shot by a slingshot to attack these green pig heads just is hilarious...to me. I feel such a feeling of power when I get to the next level! Hah! And the makers of the game are Finnish guys so that is fun for me too. And yes, I have done all the levels...though I sometimes go back to get as close to the 3 star level as I can but I really want new levels added. Hello, game makers of Angry Birds! But why I am worried? I have no time to play games! ; ) This display shows the pig heads and all the birds. LOVVVVE it! (Hey, I need to be amused sometimes, ok?)
Been going crazy getting ready for YW in Excellence that is tomorrow night, taking care of family stuff, and trying to meet totally insane work deadlines. I come home worn out and still have a lot to do.

The hardest part is that my working out is suffering...I worry that I am becoming Jabba the Hut! Or will soon become him. And he is creepy. Ewwwww!

Anyway- I will get through it all. I just feel a ton of pressure on my head right now. A TON! I need to find a pin. Ewwww.

Okay, bye.

Thursday and Time to Remember

Happy Veteran's Day (U.S.) & Happy Remembrance Day (Canada) today!

So I remember in elementary school, in North Van, writing a Remembrance Day poem each year and our teacher always had us make red paper poppies to wear that day at school. I remember street vendors would sell real poppies. I always remember how important of a day it was to take the time to remember our soldiers. For all that they sacrifice for us each day.

Thank you to all our soldiers. All of you who sacrifice your lives for us as you serve to protect us. We are VERY grateful.

What? It's Wednesday?

It is Wednesday. Don't you love how I state the obvious nearly every day of what day of the week it is? ; )

I think I have finally adjusted to the time change. Always takes a couple of days. This morning I woke up just before my alarm instead of an hour before. Yes!

Tuesday Gratefulness

Just thinking about it as I was driving to work today...I am so grateful for cars. You turn the key, push the gas pedal/clutch/etc., steer the steering wheel, and you are on your way. NICE! And you get places so much faster than if you had to walk. And it keeps me warm when it is a cold and dark morning.

So, give your car a big "MWAH" next time you go to get in it. Tell it thank you.

Monday Seeds

Hello, Monday! Once again you have come. Wow! It's okay. You are inevitable.

So this weekend, I put together these little seed packets for our YW in Excellence that is coming up this month. I need to go find small seed-like candy to put in them. I think they turned out pretty cute. I tried to use all the value colors but there was not a pale gold for Virtue. Oh well. Yes, I could have used yellow but yellow is already used for one of the values. Oh well. Our theme is "Growing Strong in Courage". Seeds=growing. You see?

And here is the design I came up with for the seed packets... I wish I had added some lines to the flower pot to make it more interesting...oh, well.

And here is a card for one our YW whose birthday is in 2 days. She is a sweet girl. Very caring.

Happy Monday! And happy Eeyore day! (Rainy=Eeyore...do you see my reasoning? Gray day, rainy...Eeyore is gray etc...)

A Tunnel Perchance?

Sometimes, especially after I just get 3 chips fixed in my car windshield...and a friend's friend's car side window gets hit by a rock and the window totally shatters,...

That a tunnel on every freeway (that trucks and cars pulling trailers with shovels etc., would have to travel through so that the poor little cars could get to their destinations in safety) does not sound like a bad idea...

Previous...Precious...a big difference!

So I remembered a situation that happened a few years ago at work. We had returned from a work trip to New York. We always fly out on a Saturday and so Sunday is included as part of our work trip.

I remember emailing my boss Kelly after the trip asking him if I could take an extra day off because we had to work on Sunday... So I basically wrote, "Kelly, because we had to work this previous Sunday, could I take a day off this next week?" I sent off the email and later in the hall he told me that would be fine.

So then about a week or so later, I was going through old emails, cleaning them out of my out box. I happened upon that email I had sent to Kelly. I re-read it and ended up being very embarrassed!... It was just one letter of the alphabet that I messed up on...instead of writing "previous", I had written "precious"!

Oh my goodness! How embarrassing! Don't get me wrong...with my religious beliefs, I do feel that attending church each Sunday is an important part of my week. A sacred day in fact. But I would have NEVER written "precious" to my boss. We both had a good laugh about it when I mentioned it to him after I found the mistake.

Just one letter in the alphabet apparently makes a big difference. So watch your Ps and Qs...or in this case Vs and Cs!!!

Another quick story... So I have just finished a big project of illustrating a book for a friend. The book is being sent to China to be printed. (I know- we should be using U.S.'s resources but it is also more expensive in the U.S.) So I am mentioning this to my sister and her family one day. Not realizing that a little 4 year old boy is paying all that much attention to what I am saying...
He loves to draw and is constantly busy drawing whenever he can. So a few days later, he announced that he is drawing a book too and that it is going to China.

Just thought that was cute.

Happy Friday!

Thursday Thoughts

I yam what I yam... (maybe I already posted this...hmmm. Oh well.)
So, it's Thursday. Yay! Got a little done last night. Not a lot. But that's okay. Been so busy the last two months- I deserve a little break. Things are good. Need to work on my Christmas card design this weekend. And fill up a sketchbook for something else. Plus a few things for YW. Oh and another little project too.... Yep- always things to do.

Off to accomplish much.

I'm fine.

Totally Tuesday & Voting Day.

So, I have a lot to do today...well, not a lot...but some parts of a lot. A bunch of things to do at home. And to illustrate at work. A normal day.

Voting day today. I need to do that on my way home today. Vote for what you believe in. Or want to believe in.

Just a reminder...now that Halloween is over, Thanksgiving and then Christmas will be coming before we know it. Just thought I'd remind you. Lots to do!
Did you remember to say "rabbit rabbit" this morning so that you could have good luck all month? I remembered. YESSSSS! (That little phrase has to be the first thing out of your mouth on the first day of the month. That's all.)

Oh, I did a happy productive thing this weekend...it was irritating me that when I wanted to use one of my punches or something to make a card that it was all downstairs! Well... I moved all that stuff upstairs to my computer room this weekend. So great! I even went and bought a set of hard plastic drawers from Target and one drawer is full of my punches. YES! I was planning to hand out little treats to my VTs and counselors this last Sunday and can I tell you how nice it was to just open that drawer and pull out a punch to punch out a little circle to slip the ribbon through on a tag? So convenient! Loved it! Nice!

I still dream of getting a house with a garage some day and every once in a while I dream of having a whole room devoted to art stuff/ computer stuff/ and craft stuff all in the same room. A nice dream that I still plan on having.
