Happy Monday!

So, the weekend went by in a blur once again. Oh, yes. A 4 1/2 hour training meeting on Saturday. 4 or 5 projects to work on that have to be done...and, no, I didn't get them all done. But I will this week. Early this week, I hope!

So, lots of birthdays on the 30th of January, I have decided. I keep hearing people say it is their birthday or know of someone who has a birthday. My sweet sister Deb had a birthday yesterday. My good friend in Vancouver had a birthday yesterday. And Charlet at work had a birthday...yes, her card is the only one I thought of to actually post before I gave it to the recipient... So here it is...
Happy birthday to all my January 30th family and friends!

I hope to accomplish LOTS today at work and at home. That is my hope.

Happy Sunday!

Here is a little card I drew for one of the YW in our church. I will give it to her today.
I have to say...I am grateful that today I only have about 3 1/2 hours of meetings at church. Just nice to have a little break from so many meetings. I know the meetings are worthwhile but I do appreciate the break.

Sad that my team lost yesterday. But I've said it before...I will always stand up for them no matter what whether they win or lose. TRUE-BLUE BYU fan.

Hello Friday!

Friday, how happy I am that you are here. Now to get a myriad of projects and things done...
Oh, here is a little banner I did for my friend Dale's business client. Ta Da.

Happy Friday! Can I go to sleep now? ; )

Yessssssss!

Can't believe it is already Thursday! That is amazing. I guess I must be busy this week.

Provo was in a "Jimmer" frenzy last night...and has been for a while...

I just have to say that even though I am not a huge "follow the sports as much as some people" kind of person...I am a way huge BYU fan (whether I watch a game or not) and very happy about this...Fredette scores 43, No. 9 BYU beats No. 4 SDSU http://www.ksl.com/?sid=14154561&nid=272

Way to go, Jimmer and team!!!! "San Diego, you got jimmered!" (Jase, I know you were hooting and hollering all over the place last night.)

Our YW and YM went bowling at BYU last night...during the game of the year (info above). Hey, we had it scheduled. And it was just a good feeling to walk into the Wilky. I've always loved BYU campus. Just a good place. Lots of great memories.

Happy Thursday!

YW New Beginnings coming up next month

The invitation for the event. Should be a really fun night. In the base of the ship, on the invitation, I have listed all the values. In the next couple of weeks I need to make signage for all the stops on the cruise. We will stop at places like Port Faith and Divine Nature Bay. At each stop, the girls will learn about each of the YW values. Our Bishop (the captain) will end the evening at the last port of call. I hope our new beehives will have a wonderful evening as they are introduced to our Young Women program.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Stepping it up!

Happy Friday!

Which brings me to a thought I usually have on Fridays...I think through all that I am planning to accomplish each weekend. I fill up a post-it note (ah, how I wish I invented those!) and then set forth checking things off.

I always have a big list. Sometimes I am surprised that I don't write down that I am going to save the world or something for all the things that I wish to accomplish.

Oh yes, I do the normal things of running to the grocery store, visit with family, do some working out, cleaning around the house...

But I have deeper goals of things that I want to do
-fixing up my house, doing better at fulfilling what i need to accomplish in what i believe in, working out more consistently, eating more healthy, stuff like that...

(I apparently LOVE the word "amazing". But then I want to eventually be all-encompassing amazing so I guess it all goes hand in hand ; )... but it is a step by step process I am finding.

So maybe what I need to do is...approach it a step at a time with each goal. Maybe I will mull that over this weekend as I dream of all the amazing things I am going to accomplish. ; ) No seriously. I am not amused at myself as I realize that I don't try as hard as I can so maybe I will just start doing something about it. Start climbing those stairs, Lori, step by step! (A little pep talk for myself.)

For all my millions of readers...haha...I hope that you too will accomplish all that you need to or want to this year.

Bookin' It...

So here is the newest book I illustrated!!!!! Woohoo! I only have one copy so far but hope to get copies for my family the end of the month to fulfill their Christmas coupons for the promised book.

The Adventures of Junk Food Dude. You can order it at www.greensmoothiegirl.com. http://www.greensmoothiegirl.com/books/pre-order-robyns-new-childrens-book/

Junk Food Dude is the little guy at the base of the tree eating a donut...if you weren't sure.
Here is a photo of the book standing up on my table. Just to show you it is a real book... ; )
Here is an inside spread. 40 illustrations in the book. Phew. A lot of work. But fun to do. I loved adding all the extra bits of color to the edges of the images. Now that is fun! And I love the roughness of the illustrations. For one thing it is an easy style to do and I like the look.
And here is another page. Showing JFD sitting at school. Feeling happier because he is becoming healthier.
Thought I would add in another book I did for a friend. This one didn't get published but he printed out one copy for me to have. It is a story about his daughters and son when they were little. Whobody. The credit for my work (my name) kind of got cut off at the bottom of the cover. Basically the same style I did for The Adventures of Junk Food Dude (above) but a little less rough.
Just a couple of page spreads of the story. The story is based on mysterious wet footprints all over the house and the sisters trying to figure out how it happened and who did it.
And the story ends with them finding their brother in the shower getting his feet wet and tromping through the house.
And another spread of the book.
So, there you go. Just bookin' it a little lately...

Now to get working on a drawing of a friend's daughter's two dogs...

Oh, what a trip!

So, this last Saturday, I had just finished purchasing a cozy soft blanket to have in my livingroom for those cold winter evenings. And it is so cozy too!!! I was at Target. I am walking past all the registers after my purchase and walking along quite smartly (I must say.) with my new non-tread boots on. Maybe a little too smartly as you will find out...because a moment later I was lucky enough to find a wet spot on the floor. Oh, joy!

Oh yes, you can figure out what happened next...I slid on the wet spot. Luckily my feet went behind me and I landed on all fours. I also added the joy of scuffing the toes of my boots. (Not amused by that. Though brown marker mostly covered it up when I got home.)

So, I landed on the floor (Hopefully I looked somewhat cat-like and graceful..but I doubt it.) and quickly picked myself up. My phone was okay (phew!) and I think it helped that I chose to buy that soft, cozy blanket that day to buffer my fall. Though I think it flung out from the side of me so it was no help at all. All I know is that my hair flew all in my face and that must have been a sight. As soon as I righted myself, I quickly looked around to see how many workers and patrons of the store saw my lovely "trip". Didn't seem like too many were around but at least a nice guy asked,"Are you okay?" And I answered, "Oh sure. But my question is, where is the video camera when you need it?" Anyway, I walked out of the store quickly with my dignity semi-intact... ; )

Yes, sign me up for a trip with sand and palm trees...not a trip where you end up looking like some wild animal that should possibly be in some kind of cage that people on vacation might walk by and gawk at. Hey, the Target people got a free trip to a wild animal reserve or a zoo and that most likely wasn't in their plans that day. ; )

Two is better than one...

So a baby shower was given today for a friend. She is expecting twins...so...I taped together two cards and then drew a girl baby and a boy baby. Tada!
This photo shows how it opens...
Happy "two babies" to the couple and their already 2 girls and 2 boys. (No other twins in their family till the babies arrive.)

How Charming...

Look how cute these little charms are on the link! (I did have the image for you to see but it disappeared.) We made necklaces out of them for our YW for their birthdays this year. The theme this year is the 13th article of faith. (The actual size is about 70% of the size you see here.)

January has been good so far. Getting back into the swing of work has been a little tough (It was very quiet at work yesterday...I think everyone was asleep or trying to pretend they weren't at work.)...but I get to be creative all day. So I am grateful.

A blog new year's resolution...I probably won't try to post an illustration every day like I attempted to in 2010...just a bit hard sometimes. So now you can be surprised... ; )

You can order the charms through www.charmingldsgifts.com

Happy 2011! 1-1-11

Hope you remembered to say rabbit-rabbit...I think if it is the very first day of the year, that it should bring you super good luck.

I hope your dreams and goals work out this year. I am hoping that for me. 2010 has been a little rough in patches and it has been a bit of an up and down year for me. Maybe a few more valleys than hills for me. But I also know that it is how it is for me sometimes---hey, we can't have everything go our way all the time, right?
My wish for you is that you have more hills this year. I hope to.
