Hangin' 30 and a yo-yo...Friday

A rabbit with a yo-yo. It could happen...

Here are 3 of my nephews...hangin' 30. You know the saying, "hangin' 10"? Well this is hangin' 30... ; )
They were playing while we were working last Saturday. Ah, the carefree life...
See the boxes in the background? That was our load for DI that day.

Oh, yay that it is Friday! I am sooooo excited! Yes, I am working but it is Friday! A little shorter of a work day, the traffic was less on the road this morning, and just overall it is a great day! And it was wonderful, of course, working at the temple last night. Forgetting about the crazy stuff happening in the world today. And instead focusing on what is important to me.

BTW- I got embarrassed yesterday. Or the last couple of days. Why do I bring sets in to our meetings at work somedays? That is all I need to say... sigh. Oh well. Moving on...

"Didn't get enough sleep" Thursday

Not that I feel or am even acting crabby...but I do know I didn't get enough sleep last night. I woke up at 1am and just laid there. "Should I turn the light on and read a book?", I thought to myself. After a few minutes of deciding and trying to get comfortable, I must have fallen asleep because before I knew it, my nasty alarm was buzzing across the room. But I am tired...something about waking up in the middle of the night tends to make me tired. Oh well. And it's my long day. At least I know that when my head hits the pillow tonight, that I won't be up in the middle of the night deciding whether to read a book or not. That is one consolation. (Because I am awfully tired right now for sure.) One reason I had a bit of a restless sleep is because I have a mosquito bite on my ankle and it was itchy earlier in the evening when I was first trying to get to sleep.

Here is a photo of my brother Jason. My Bumper. Cute boy, I think.
Happy Thursday!

Buggy Wednesday

I think there are about 50 little leftovers of bugs on my windshield. I mostly notice it when the sun hits my windshield just as the sun is rising or as the sun is setting. (Yes- these aren't the clearest images. I enlarged the very quick sketch and didn't clean them up.)
Happy buggy Wednesday! (The mondo fly that was buzzing around my house yesterday finally left when I held the door open. Thank you!)

Yep, it's Tuesday!

Ah, cute little nephew drawing. From a Christmas card I did a while back.
It's Tuesday. My front door and shutters got painted yesterday. So shiny. It's a high gloss oil based paint. It looks really nice. My door looked like poster paint before that. It was dull and lifeless. Now it's so pretty. They need to come back today to paint the vent that is way up high and also to paint another little area. And to put in two screws that somehow got misplaced when they reattached my shutters. Slowly but surely I am working on home improvement stuff. It's a good feeling to get stuff fixed up. More to do inside but I am working on it... a little bit each month or so...

I need to get lots of stuff done today at work...I hope to.

Happy Tuesday!

Ah, Monday.

Such a busy weekend. Did errands and mowed my mom's lawns on Friday and then went to "Annie, Get Your Gun", the play. (Such a cute play! I can't remember the songs off hand but I was surprised to hear that those songs came from that musical. I had no idea.)

Then Saturday dawned bright and early and we (me, my sis Karen, and her husband Alan, and their boys) met at mom's house to finally dejunk the lower basement. 4 loads to the dump (it was a small trailer that we rented but still!) and 1 big load to DI. I have to say this is the first time I have had to take 2 showers in one day: 1 in the morning and 1 in the late afternoon. I have NEVER sweated so much in my life. My face was dripping and every inch of me was drenched. Can we say "major sweatage"? Maybe I can say I had 3 showers? One was a sweat shower! Eeewww. But such a good feeling to get that all done. I went home at about 4pm and just laid there. Finally the basement is cleared out. Next project: paint my mom's kitchen, family room, and the back of the house. That will be much more fun. But then I like painting.

Also, my brother's oldest daughter Chelsea told us of an amazing experience she had. Something that gave me chills up and down my back. It really was amazing.

It was a good weekend. A lot was accomplished.

Now to get going with this week...

Hippity Dippity Thursday

Ever wanted to hang out with some monsters that live in a cardboard box? Just asking.
So the thunderstorms are still alive and well around here. Though happily the stormage didn't keep me awake last night. I did have to cut short my workout at the track yesterday though for fear of quarter size rain drops falling on my head and possibly ruining my iphone and non-waterproof watch.
At work yesterday we had mondo hail stones that fell for a little bit in the afternoon. I was hoping (a lot) that I wouldn't come out to my car possibly looking like a golf ball with divots all over it. Yay- my car was fine. [Hail are pellets of frozen rain that fall in showers from cumulonimbus (say that 10 times fast!) clouds.] Though it seems that when it hails that it is quite warm out so I am a bit confused as to why the rain drops might freeze... what goes on inside those clouds? I wonder if they have a freeze ray that zaps the rain drops and then they fall down to our cars?

Happy Thursday!

Party Above My House Wednesday

O H, M Y G O O D N E S S! I woke up this morning to crashes and booms outside. Actually it seemed like it was right above my house! Thunder and lightening with huge flashes of white coming through my windows! I am guessing that the sky was having a party? A loud one for sure. Eek! I quickly turned off my computer and almost didn't want to turn any lights on for fear that the "party in the sky" would notice and come knocking a little louder on my roof!
Yay that it calmed down! Enough of the pots hitting together! S C A R Y!

Have a great Wednesday! And "sky", could you move your party away from me tonight? Not sure what you were celebrating...or if you were just really crabby. But I think if there is any more of this that you need to go to "cloud time-out". ; )

Hurrah for Tuesday

Not really any particular reason for hurrahing. Just wanted to.

Happy Tuesday! Pretty sunny day. Full of countless possibilities.

Sometimes Monday and AMAZING Sunday Sunset!

I have to add...the sky was AMAZING last night. The sun was setting and everything was glowing. Even the grass. This photo does not do the glowing pink tufted clouds justice at all! Seriously, everything was bright and glowing. No other way to describe it. Some kids down the street were dancing around in the glow. It seemed so surreal. The grass seemed an unreal shade of green. And the sky was beyond glowing. W O W! Like my sweet niece Che' said, it truly was like seeing the world through rose colored glasses! Wow again! I had been at my sister's and when I drove into my place, I got out and took a photo right away.

Choo-choo! (This image is from a stamp set I created quite a while back. Ah, cute.)

Wow- I can't believe it is August already! Why does the Summer go by so quickly?

A thought I was thinking about for the last while...why do I sometimes feel like I am living in Junior High? Though I have to say that my actual Junior High (which was Junior Secondary where I grew up) wasn't quite so dramatic. Or do I just let some things get to me...I think that is mostly it. But remember "self", I am trying to practice the "water running off the duck's back" scenario. So I am. But I just have to say that sometimes I find myself in circumstances where I am just amazed. But I am working on not letting it affect me. Because I know that I am an amazing person, that my family and good friends love me, and that I can overcome anything. So there you go- my "sometimes Monday" pep talk. To me. ; ) And I know we all have those days.

You are aware that I write down random thoughts...things that I need to work on. Because I find that if I have a problem with a situation or a person, that I am the one with the problem.

Happy Monday! It was a wonderful weekend and I love being around friends and family. I love being entertained by the 4 year nephew in my life. Such a crack up. (He can talk and sing away for a 3 hour period of time. My brother-in-law is well aware of that. As is my sister.) And it was nice not thinking about the deadlines I have at work. Though that isn't too good of a practice considering we have 5 weeks to finish everything up for the next publication.

Here's to a great day and a great week! (I think I posted this drawing a while back. Yah I need to get some new drawings going...)

P.S. I got bowed to on Sunday after church. My friend Grace is from Korea. As is her husband. They have a sweet little boy who is almost 3. His name is Gordon. I said hello to him as I was leaving church. He turned around and bowed to me. Isn't that sweet? So I got bowed to. Pretty cool.

Cooper's Run Annual 5k Race

I don't know if you heard the news story a year ago about a sweet 4 year old boy who was tragically run over. His name is Cooper. Darling little blond boy with the cutest dimples. A little guy full of lots of energy. Such a terrible loss for their family.

As a family, they decided to host a 5k run every year in memory of him. With otter pops as a treat since that was Cooper's favorite. The money goes to scholarships for kids at the pre-school that Cooper attended. This year 650 people registered and it was enough money for 6 kids to go to the school. I hope to participate each year. I did okay. It was a warm morning and the race didn't start till 9am. I ran most of it but walked off and on. A lot of people did. We were there mostly to support this family. (Who I don't know but they seem to be so amazing plus it is to support our community.)

So I handed my iphone to a girl to take our photo...and here is the back of me...I guess she was a little too quick on pushing the button. Look at those runner legs. Haha.

And here we are. Analane, Lindsey, me, and Sherry. All ready to run...

And I saw these guys wandering around and thought about Jase and how he loved Star Wars. His son Kolby was also a fan as are 3 more of my nephews:Ben, Ander, and Wy. Later I saw Darth Vader walking around. Too bad I didn't get a photo with him. Watch out, I'm armed and dangerous... (No- these guys didn't run in the race but I think they were here because little Cooper was also a fan.) Yah, I know- the fanny pack is such a cute touch. Had to carry my iphone and keys.

Here are some cute little apple balloons that were attached to the booth about the preschool that Cooper attended.

And here is the EMT helicopter that landed in the church parkinglot. That one blade looks like it would bend off. They landed and explained how they care for a person who is injured. Tight quarters in there.
It was a good day. I was glad to be part of this event. I bet little Coop was there yesterday smiling his big grin and wanting to let his family know that he is doing great. I know that Heavenly Father is looking after him and that he was needed on the other side. I hope his family can find comfort.

Oh and "rabbit, rabbit day" today! (Paula, did you remember this time?) Works perfectly with my bunny cloud that I posted the other day...
